Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, met with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain on the sidelines of the Investec Derby Festival at the Epsom Downs Racecourse, on Saturday.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and the Queen discussed ways to bolster ties of friendship and co-operation. They also spoke about the Derby, one of the greatest flat races in the world, which was first time staged in 1780.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed affirmed his keenness to participate in the British races to win cups for the UAE.
The Queen lauded the historic bonds between the UAE and Britain and emphasised her determination to advance them further.
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and HRH Princess Haya bint Al Hussein, wife of Sheikh Mohammed also attended the race.
Godolphin's Laugh Aloud, ridden by James Doyle, won the 1700 metre Princess Elizabeth stakes (Group 3).
Sheikh Hamdan received the prize amidst overwhelming applause.
