Cairo Airport authorities on high alert to face Zika virus

Cairo International Airport authorities have taken precautionary measures to face the Zika virus that has broke out in some European countries after it appeared in South and Central America.

Common symptoms of the Zika virus include fever, rash, joint pain and conjunctivitis. The virus has also been associated with a rise of microcephaly birth defect cases.

Sources at the quarantine department said that all passengers coming from European countries and South and Central America where infections have appeared will be checked upon arrival.

Any suspected infection case will be isolated and sent to the Fever Hospital for more medical tests, the sources added.
