Two new bird flu cases were reported in Matrouh and Gharbiya governorates on Saturday, the health ministry said.
The two persons tested positive for the virus in laboratory tests, the ministry said.
A 35-year-old woman from Matrouh died of the disease while receiving treatment at Damanhour hospital, said the statement.
The second case is a 60-year-old woman from Gharbeia who suffers from cough and high fever and is being closely monitored.
