A delegation of Egyptian physicians led by Assistant Health Minister Ahmed el Ansari wrapped up a five-day-visit to Togo on Thursday.

The visit, made upon the request of the Togolese Health Ministry, was carried out as part of a memorandum of understanding signed by the two sides, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The mission scanned the health sectors in Togo to make a list of necessary health needs to hone the skills of Togolese medical staff and mull ways of importing Egyptian-made drugs, the statement added.

The medical officials inspected some sites to choose the best spot to build the agreed-upon Egyptian pharmacy and clinic in Togo, the statement added.

The two sides agreed on drafting a plan of action to establish a new department or a clinic at the public hospital in Togo to receive catheter and kidney patients, the statement added.

During the visit, the delegation held a meeting with Togolese Prime Minister Komi Sélom Klassou. The meeting was attended by Egyptian Ambassador in Lome Karim Sharief.

Klassou handed the diplomat a written message to Egypt's Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab, the foreign ministry said.
