National Heart Institute

Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab said that the National Heart Institute (NHI) should be a "success story".

He underscored that the NHI should offer good medical services, adding that the nursing and cleanliness shall be good at this facility.

These remarks came during Mahlab's meeting on Monday with Health Minister Adel Adawy to discuss the development plan of the NHI and the ministry's efforts to find a cure for the Virus C disease.

The premier assigned the minister to issue a statement about the development work in the NHI addressed to the Egyptian people.

While explaining the development work in the NHI, Adawy said that this facility was established in 1966 to treat heart diseases and it was not developed or expended since its establishment.

He further reiterated that there are huge numbers of people who come to the institute to receive treatment, which is a big problem, adding that there will be similar hospitals to offer the same services in governorates.

During the meeting, the minister presented a report about the government's efforts to offer a treatment for Virus C disease, noting that this file is a priority for him.

Adawy underlined that there are negotiations to decrease the medication's prices for the ill persons.
