An Italian doctor who has been cured of Ebola plans to return to Sierra Leone, the West African country where he contracted the virus while working for medical charity Emergency, dpa reported.
'Returning to Sierra Leone, even if for a short period, is part of my plans, so that I may finish what I had started,' Fabrizio Pulvirenti was quoted by Italian media as saying Friday.
Pulvirenti was speaking shortly after being given a clean bill of health by doctors at Rome's Lazzaro Spallanzani hospital, where he was admitted on November 25.
He was the first Italian to have contracted the virus and was treated using experimental drugs. Details of the therapy are to be made public at the end of January, once the World Health Organization protocol has been completed.
