The Jordanian doctor, Issa Kawalit, has been elected, in an online voting, as president of the International Renal Care Group (IRCG) with headquarters in Washington D.C.
Kawalit who is working as a consultant in a number of hospitals in Jordan, is the first Arab doctor that wins the presidency of IRCG.
In 2011, Dr.Kawalit, who is also the Co-director of the Arab Renal Care Group and head of the transplant Institute at Amman Hospital, was awarded the Young Nephrologists Research Award from the IRCG, in a program held as part of the World Congress of Nephrology in Vancouver, Canada.
The award, which recognizes outstanding research in fields relevant to nephrology, is designed to encourage and recognize young scientists active in basic or patient-oriented research related to the functions and diseases of the kidney.
IRCG is the world’s largest non-governmental renal organization that provides international health care accreditation specific for renal and renal related health care services.
IRCG works improve the safety and quality of renal care provided to the public through the provision of health care accreditation and related services that support performance improvement in health care organizations.
