Kuwait Ambassador to Morocco Shamlan Abdulaziz Al-Roumi on Thursday delivered a USD one million donation from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Morocco's Lalla Salma Foundation for Cancer Prevention and Treatment.
Handing the donation to Executive Director Rachid Bekkali at the Foundation premises, Ambassador Al-Roumi said His Highness the Amir crystallizes highest values of humanity through a flow of humanitarian initiatives, that secured him the "Humanitarian Leader" title.
In September, the UN honored His Highness the Amir as a "Humanitarian Leader" and Kuwait as a "Humanitarian Center." Al-Roumri added that the donation aims to support Lalla Salma Foundation's programs and projects on preventing cancer and providing treatment for patients.
He also reviewed humanitarian initiatives by His Highness the Amir to help the needy worldwide.
In addition, Al-Roumi underscored Kuwait's copious record of humanitarian, voluntary and relief work "since the 1930s" offering donations, aid and development loans to countries and communities in need.
Speaking to KUNA after delivering the donation, Ambassador Al-Roumi said it reflects the strong ties and cooperation between Morocco and Kuwait.
He also paid tribute to the persistent efforts by Princess Lalla Salma wife of King Mohammed VI for providing treatment to cancer patients in the Kingdom through the Foundation.
For her part, Foundation Secretary General Latifa El-Abida expressed gratitude to His Highness the Amir for the generous gift which will significantly contribute to its programs and projects .
El-Abida emphasized the deep-rooted ties between Morocco and Kuwait, "stemmed from the same noble human values."
