Saudi King Abdullah is in stable condition after having a breathing tube inserted Friday, the royal court said.
The king was admitted to hospital on New Year's Eve.
The Saudi Press Agency carried a statement by the court saying that medical tests revealed the king was suffering from a respiratory infection, prompting his medical team to insert a breathing tube temporarily.
The statement said the procedure was successful and the king was stable.
On Wednesday, the royal court said the king was admitted to hospital for medical checks.
