The Arab League urged reactivating the boycott of Israel, saying that the Arab boycott against Israel is a peaceful resistance tool aiming to put pressure on the occupation authorities to abide by international resolutions.
The AL affirmed that the international boycott of Israel has achieved success at both popular and official levels.
The remarks were made by AL Assistant Secretary General for Palestine and occupied lands affairs and the director of the central Office for the Boycott of Israel, Saeid Abu Ali during the 91st meetings of the Arab boycott offices that kicked off on Monday in Cairo.
The conference was attended by delegations of Arab countries along with the representative of the The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
At the beginning of the conference, participants expressed condolences over the death of several of Egyptian security personnel at the hands of terrorists during Friday's attack in Giza's Wahat area.
They expressed absolute trust that Egypt is capable of uprooting terrorism.
Abu Ali noted that the conference coincides with the latest critical developments taking place in Palestine topped by achieving the Palestinian reconciliation and ending division sponsored by Egypt.
The conference comes to confirm the continuing Arab support for the struggle of the Palestinian people to end the occupation and establish the Palestinian state with Al Quds as its capital, he stated.
The boycott of Israel allows world countries and people to express their peaceful solidarity with the Palestinian people through boycotting companies which support Israeli occupation that is challenging the international law and undermining achieving the two-state solution, Abu Ali said.
He expressed appreciation for Kuwait's National Assembly Speaker Marzouk al Ghanem who expelled Israeli delegation from Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Meetings in Russia.
Abu Ali hailed the role has been played by the
the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement in achieving a qualitative leap during the past four years in the academic, cultural and economic fields.
Such achievements led Israel to fight the BDS movement by working on obtaining legislation against it in Europe and the US, he added.
He extended thanks for representatives of the Boycott Offices in the Arab states for their international efforts in calling for the boycott of pro-Israeli occupation institutions and companies.
As well, he commended the UN Human Rights Committee for preparing a blacklist of “all business enterprises” that have enabled or profited from the growth of Israeli settlements that is expected to be published in late 2017.
