The Administrative Control Authority (ACA) on Sunday arrested Alexandria's deputy governor over charges of accepting a bribe, squandering public funds and profiteering.
In a statement, the ACA said that investigations showed the official has received huge sums and gold jewelry of EGP one million from some businessmen in return for suspending the implementation of decisions issued to demolish some illegal buildings and recover state-owned lands.
Also, she had deliberately hidden the sources of her wealth to avoid the authority’s pursuit, the ACA added.
Furthermore, the ACA apprehended five businessmen, who are involved in the case, in addition to confiscating documents related to their violations.
The official and the five businessmen were referred to the Supreme State Security Prosecution for questioning them on the corruption charges against them.
