Deputy Chairman of the Export Council for Building Materials (ECBM) Mohamed Khattab said that Egypt is considered one of three African pioneering countries in glass industry.
Egypt is rich with the raw material needed for manufacturing glass namely silicon sands, he noted.
Khattab made the remarks on the fringe of a tour made by the Trade and Industry Minister Tareq Qabil to Sadat City in Monofiya governorate on Saturday.
Khattab further said that Egypt is one of the largest glass exporters, noting that the state also seeks developing this industry to open new markets.
