Egypt will mark on Sunday the 
the World Day against Trafficking in Persons.
The Cabinet’s National Coordinating Committee on Preventing and Combating Human Trafficking will hold an event on Sunday on the occasion at the State Information Service (SIS) headquarters in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the National Council For Childhood and Motherhood.
The SIS head Diaa Rashwan is expected to give a speech during the ceremony. the council’s secretary-general Maysa Shawky is planned to review efforts exerted to protect children from such crimes. The committee’s chairwoman Naela Gabr is also expected to give a speech on Egypt’s efforts to confront human trafficking.
In exclusive statements to MENA, Gabr asserted Egypt’s keen on eliminating such crimes that abuse women, children and men. She added that the IOM had announced that about 21 million people are victims of the forced labor.
The World Day against Trafficking in Persons was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly, in its resolution A/RES/68/192.
