Egyptian Navy receives 2nd German Type-209 submarine

The Egyptian Armed Forces received on Tuesday the second Type 209/1400 submarine from Germany.
The submarine with the latest technology installed for this type of watercraft will join the Egyptian Navy within days.
During a grand ceremony in the Germany city of Kiel, Commander-in-Chief of ‎the Egyptian Navy Ahmed Khaled raised the Egyptian flag on the submarine. 
The submarine can sail for 11,000 miles with a speed of 21 knots. Its length is 60-73 meters. Missiles and torpedoes can be launched through the submarine.
The submarine was launched by ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) in the German city of Kiel.
On April 19, Germany's first Type-209/1400 submarine arrived in the Egyptian territorial waters in Alexandria city.
