Armed Forces Spokesman Colonel Tamer al Rifai said Sunday that the law enforcement forces of the Second Field Army thwarted an attempt to smuggle one of the Suez Canal's crossing points that lead to North Sinai.

Materials, electronic circuits, and communication devices that are used in making improvised explosive devices (IED) were being smuggled in a truck, according to the armed forces spokesman.

This comes as part of the Armed Forces' efforts to combat terrorism and pursue Takfiri and criminal elements, Al Rifai said.
