HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani held Monday a round of official talks in the Emiri Diwan with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
They reviewed bilateral relations between the two sides and the means to enhance them in all fields. They also discussed a number of regional and international issues of joint interest, particularly the latest development in the region.
After the talks, HH the Emir and the President of Azerbaijan oversaw the signing of a number of agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoU). The two sides signed Memorandums of Understanding in the fields of culture, youth and sports, the ports department of Qatar and its Azerbaijani counterpart. Qatar Civil Aviation Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Civil Aviation Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The two sides signed a protocol amending the cargo agreement. They also signed a cooperation agreement on the protection of endangered species in their natural habitat.
HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani attended the talks and the signing ceremonies. HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani and a number of their excellencies the ministers also attended.
On the Azerbaijani side, members of the official delegation accompanying the president attended.
The President of Azerbaijan arrived earlier to the Emiri Diwan, where he was met with the official reception ceremony.
