Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al Ja'afari called for returning Syria’s membership to the Arab League.

In a press conference on Monday in Moscow with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, Ja'afari added that Iraq had always called for restoring the membership of Syria in the AL and to let the Syrian people decide their own destiny.

He stressed that Baghdad had always rejected intervention in Damascus’ internal affairs.

Earlier, Ja'afari arrived in Moscow on an official visit during which he met with Lavrov who stressed Moscow’s commitment to Iraq's territorial integrity.
