Petroleum Minister Tareq Mulla embarked on Saturday on a snap tour to inspect safety measures at el Hamra oil port in el Alamein area on the Mediterranean Sea.
In a statement on Saturday, the Petroleum Ministry said Mulla was keen on inspecting the safety measures adopted by the Western Desert Operating Petroleum Co. (WEPCO) which is in charge of managing el Hamra port.
The minister listened to a blow-by-blow report on the company's safety plans by WEPCO Chairman Ahmed el Khames.
El Hamra port is one of the key petroleum strategic locations and a specialized port for storing and shipping crude oil of the Western Desert oil fields.
