Planning Minister Hala el Saaed stressed on Tuesday the necessity of economic reform measures that were recently taken by the government.
Addressing a session titled "Economic reform..indicators, results and protection package", within the activities of the Fourth National Youth Conference on Tuesday, the minister said that what we are passing through is as a result of not taking corrective economic reform measures over the past years. 
During the pre-reform period, Egypt's foreign reserves were enough to cover only three months of the country's imports, the minister added.
As for the deficit in the balance of trade, it reached nearly 40 billion dollars during the year 2015/2016, she said.
