Riyadh - KUNA
The Royal Saudi Air Defense Force (RSADS) intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile fired by the Yemeni Houthi militia towards Jazan city, southwest Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday.
The missile was timely destroyed and resulted in no casualties, spokesman of the Saudi-led coalition to restore legitimacy in Yemen Col. Staff Turki Al-Maliki said in a press release.
The attack targeted civilians in populated areas in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, he affirmed.
Such terrorist acts by the Iranian-backed militia prove once again the persistence of the Yemeni militia and the Iranian regime in their attempts to destabilize Saudi Arabia and the region.
They continue defying the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the international humanitarian law, thus putting in jeopardy the regional and international security and peace, Col. Al-Maliki added.
The attack took to 198 the total number of ballistic missiles launched by the Houthi militia towards Saudi Arabia since the start of the Yemeni conflict in March, 2015.
