Cairo - Egypt Today
Prime Minister Sherif Ismail asserted on Monday that his government has addressed long-term issues through a number of tough decisions over the past three years.
Addressing a session on Egypt's 2030 Vision as part of the 4th youth conference in Alexandria, Ismail said that the reform process will continue over the next two to three years.
He stressed that "every decision taken by the political leadership is a step toward a better future". He pointed out to severe economic problems including the budget deficit and the country's public debt that had be addressed.
There are other critical issues that require solutions including infrastructure that should be improved to absorb the growing population and the need to attract more investments, the premier said.
Ismail cited among other problems the subsidy system that requires a reshuffle to secure that it reaches those who deserve it.
He stressed that the government's goal is to markedly improve the living conditions of citizens through providing job opportunities, offering efficient services, and developing the educational and healthcare systems.
