The US embassy in Cairo mourned the victims of the two-train collision in Alexandria on Friday.

The US embassy posted on its Twitter account "Our thoughts and prayers with families of those killed and injured in today's train crash".

"We stand with the Egyptian people in this hard time" the embassy added.
