Rescuers have discovered 53 bodies at the crash side of an Indonesian passenger plane with 54 people on board in the easternmost province of Papua, the Transport Ministry said on Tuesday.
"At 12:25 a.m. local time (0325 GMT), rescuers have found 53 bodies, so only one baby has not been discovered yet," J.A. Barata, spokesman of the transport ministry, told Xinhua via phone from the city of Oksibil in Papua.
The ATR-42 turboprop plane, operated by Trignana Air, crashed in Mount Tangok in Bintang district of Papua on Sunday when it was flying from Jayapura, capital of the Papua province, to Oksibil, according to Barata.
The crash site is about 15 to 20 km from the Oksibil airport, according to National Police chief General Badrodin Haiti.
