Cairo - Arab Today
All hostages of hijacked Egyptian plane were released and the hijacker was arrested, EgyptAir said in a statement Tuesday.
Earlier, the Cypriot Foreign Ministry announced that the hijacked Egyptian plane situation is over and its hijacker has been arrested.
Earlier Tuesday, the EgyptAir Airbus A320, with 56 passengers on board along with seven cabin crew members and one security officer, was hijacked and forced to land in Cyprus.
Flight MS181 passenger plane was originally travelling from Alexandra's Borg El Arab Airport to Cairo.
All passengers, apart from three foreigners and seven crew members, of the hijacked Egyptian plane were released.
The Cypriot Larnaca airport was closed and scheduled flights diverted elsewhere over the Egyptian plane hijacking.
Initial reports revealed that the man who hijacked an Egyptian plane is wanted over charges of fraud and forgery.
The reports said the whole operation was political not terrorist and was meant to pressure Egypt as news released earlier said that the hijacker demanded the release of political prisoners in Egypt.
