Arab League Secretary General Nabil el Araby

Arab League Secretary General Nabil el Araby said the United Nations Security Council is responsible for countering the grave violations committed by the Israeli government in the occupied Arab territories.

If the Israeli policies, which are reflecting the intransigence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, continue, world-wide chaos will emerge, Araby said at the opening session of an extraordinary meeting of the Arab League Council held at the permanent delegates' level on Thursday to discuss Israeli escalations against occupied Syrian Golan Heights.

He called for establishing a special international tribunal to look into Israel's crimes and punish their committers.

The occupied Golan Heights are Arab territories, he affirmed, urging the international community to take a deterrent stance against Israel and reject the concept of using force in taking over other countries' lands.

He pointed out to UNSC Resolution 797 of 1981 that deems Israel's enforcement of its laws and authority over the occupied territories as null and void and has no legal framework. The resolution also says that Israel has to withdraw from occupied Arab territories, including the Golan Heights, he added.
