Matrouh security forces foiled an infiltration attempt by 16 people, who plotted to illegally sneak into Libya.
The would-be infiltrators included 11 Egyptian citizens and five Eritrean nationals.
The defendants were referred to the prosecution over charges of trying to illegally leave the country.
