Geneva - Arab Today
Egypt's permanent envoy to the UN Amr Ramadan praised on Wednesday the significant role played by Cairo to host a large number of Arab and African refugees.
Addressing the 67th session of the Executive Committee of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) currently held in Geneva, Ramadan said there is high-level cooperation between Egypt and the UN agency to support refugees and improve their living conditions.
He further warned that the developing countries host over three-quarters of the total of refugees around the world despite of the limited resources, as well as the social and economic problems facing these countries.
The international community should intervene to find log-term solutions for the refugee crisis and provide every possible support for countries hosting refugees, Ramadan said.
He also voiced Egypt's eagerness to cooperate with the UNHCR to implement terms of the New York Declaration for Refugees and Migrants issued on September 19.
