China will continue to actively participate in and support the work of UNESCO, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Friday.
Spokesperson Hua Chunying made the remarks when asked to comment on the decisions of the United States and Israel to withdraw from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Xinhua reported.
Hua said the principle of UNESCO is to boost international cooperation in education, science and culture, promote mutual understanding and integration between different cultures, and maintain world peace in order to achieve common development.
"We hope all countries can contribute to this aim," said the spokesperson, adding China is willing to cooperate with other countries in this regard.
