Libreville - Egypt Today
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said on Wednesday Cairo is willing to boost ties with Libreville to cover all political, economic and military fields.
During talks with Gabonese President Ali Bongo Ondimba today, President Sisi termed bilateral ties ‘special’ as Egypt eyes closer partnership to maintain development and stability in both countries.
The one-on-one talks was held prior to an open session that was attended by delegations from both sides, Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef said.
Ondimba, who described Sisi’s visit ‘historic’, said his country is keen on building stronger relationship with Egypt at all levels, especially economic and commerial cooperation, Youssef said, adding he asserted importance of activating deals made by two sides last year.
The Gabonese president hailed Sisi’s openness towards Africa, adding Egypt is a major economic player of a ‘good reputation’.
For his part, President Sisi extended greetings to the people of Gabon on the occasion of national day. He hailed results of the national dialogue initiative launched by the Gabonese President that bolstered stability in the African country.
Also, President Sisi said Cairo is keen on increasing Egyptian investments in Gabon and enhancing private sector cooperation in both sides, the spokesman added.
Youssef added the two leaders’ meeting took up the developments in Africa and means to solve the crises that hit some countries in the content.
