Cairo - MENA
Egypt and Ghana discussed Saturday boosting the bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation through Al-Azhar to spread the moderate Islamic teachings.
This came during a meeting that grouped Egypt's ambassador in Ghana Mohamed Haider and Ghanaian Foreign Minister Hanna Tetteh.
Haider said many Ghanaian institutions wanted a presence for the Sunni institution of Al-Azhar in Ghana; a step that was welcomed by Tetteh and urged the Egyptian envoy to coordinate this initiative with Muslim preachers for bringing about it.
During the meeting, Haider reviewed with the Ghanaian minister the intensive Egyptian diplomatic activities including a SADC-EAC-COMESA summit that was held in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt's participation in the African Union summit, as well as hosting a Libyan tribal conference and a meeting of the Syrian opposition factions in Cairo.
