Cairo - Egypt Today
Egyptian Ambassador in Kigali Namira Negm underlined on Saturday the importance of a prospective visit by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Rwanda within the framework of an African tour, that will also take him to Chad, Gabon and Tanzania.
The tour is meant to promote Egyptian-African ties and underscore Egypt's keenness on enhancing cooperation with African states at the political and economic levels, she said.
During the tour, the president will expound Egypt's vision on the future of the continent and means of dealing with the challenges besetting it, especially countering terrorism, she added.
She noted that Sisi is the first Egyptian president to visit the Rwandan capital within the framework of his participation in the 27th African Union summit in July, 2016.
Sisi will be the first president to meet Rwandan President Paul Kagame before his inauguration after winning the recent presidential elections for a third presidential term.
Several days ago, Sisi sent a cable of congratulations to Kagame for winning the elections.
