Italian President Sergio Mattarella called a meeting of the Supreme Defense Council to be held next Thursday.

The first item on the agenda is the international situation, especially Libya, the conflicts in Iraq and Syria and the threat posed by the extremist Daesh group, the Italian presidency said in a statement.

The meeting will also address the impact of the oil and gas markets on the Italian and European energy security sectors.
