Berlin's willingness to establish some kind of partnership with Russia and to maintain the anti-Russian sanctions simultaneously is Utopia, deputy Frants Klintsevich, first deputy chairman of the United Russia party caucus on the State Duma said on Friday, adding that Russia would not pull chestnuts out of the fire for anyone.
Germany's Federal Chacellor Angela Merkel said earlier on Friday Germany was seeking constructive relations with Russia but lifting of the anti-Russian sanctions, which the EU had imposed on Moscow in the wake of the Ukrainian crisis, would be too premature at the moment.
"To with relations of partnership with Russia something Chancellor Angela Merkel is often speaking about and to keep up sanctions against our country at the same time is a sheer utopiah," Klintsevich told reporters.
He said Russia was doing its best to meet the West's wishes to in an almost unbelievable measure.
"It's really difficult to overestimate the role we're playing in the solution of the Iranian nuclear problem, in settling the Syrian conflict, or in counteracting global terrorism," Klintsevich indicated.
Still those thinking partnership relations stood separately from sanctions were severely mistaken, he added.
"It's like, well, here the West cooperates with Russia because it's lucrative and there it doesn't," Klintsevich said. "We're not going to march to anyone's tunes because politics is a two-way street".
