Russia said today that it is working with China on reaching an agreement on military memorials. The talks will take place during the 12th round of the Russian-Chinese consultations on military memorials. Russian news agency Itar-Tass quoted head of the Russian delegation to the talks Evgeny Tomikhin. He said that the two sides are discussing a document on maximum coverage of the technical aspects related to maintaining monuments and restoring them.
In 2007, the two countries signed a similar agreement in the form of exchanging notes. However those agreements were on narrower cooperation. Tomikhin noted that China has more than 80 military memorials that all have passports and are located in China's different cities. They are objects from the period of 1930-1950 during the war against China, World War II and others. There is also a monument of Russian diplomats who died in Guanghzou in 1927.
