Thirty-six Israeli settlers stormed the courtyard of the holy Mosque of Al Aqsa early Wednesday amid tight security measures by Israeli police.
Occupation troops forced an Aqsa guard to stay away from settlers and threatened to arrest him if he captured photos or approached settlers, eyewitnesses told MENA on Wednesday.
Awqaf Ministry employees and Jerusalemites continued their sit-in for the fourth straight day in front of Aqsa gates in rejection of installing electronic gates at the holy shrine entrance and tightening security measures .
Loudspeakers of Quds mosques urged people to join the sit-in.
Palestinian factions called on Wednesday for a Palestinian day of rage to support Aqsa and Jerusalem.
Israel closed the mosque following the face-off and banned Friday prayers before it reopened it on Sunday after installing the electronic gates.
Israel has installed electronic gates at the mosque following armed clashes at Al Aqsa halls on Friday, which left two Israeli soldiers and three Arab youth dead.
