Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit has pressed for a settlement in Yemen based on the outcome of national dialogue, the Gulf Initiative and UN Security Council Resolution No. 2216. 
In his meeting earlier Monday with UN envoy to Yemen Ismaïl Ould Cheikh Ahmed, Abul Gheit listened to the outcome of contacts with Yemeni, regional and international parties to reach a solution to the crisis in Yemen.
Abul Gheit stressed that contacts should focus on ways to quickly and effectively address the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Yemen, said AL spokesman Mahmoud Afifi.
The UN envoy is set to review the outcome of his contacts in a consultative meeting with the permanent representatives at the pan Arab body later today.
