Arab League Secretary-General Nabil el Araby congratulated former Egyptian foreign minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit who will succeed him in the pan-Arab organization's chief post as of July 1st.
Addressing the 145th foreign ministerial meeting, Araby lauded Abul-Gheit as a veteran diplomat who will be able to lead the AL.
Abul-Gheit has many achievements and has been always close to decision-making circles, Araby said, expressing his belief that the former minister will be able to activate joint Arab action.
Araby, in the meantime, thanked Arab foreign ministers and staffers of the AL's General Secretariat for their support during his term in office.
