The Arab League is committed to proceeding with close cooperation with the UN in order to boost political dialogue in Libya and complete the items of Skhirat agreement in order to reach comprehensive settlement to the crisis in the North African country, Assistant Secretary General of the pan-Arab body Ambassador Hossam Zaki said.
Zaki made the pledge during his meeting in Cairo on Monday with UN Libya envoy Ghassan Salame, according to a source with the Arab League’s Secretariat General.
Salame, for his part, praised the positive role played by the pan-Arab body in supporting the efforts of political settlement in Libya, the source said.
The UN envoy asserted keenness on fostering the joint efforts regarding Libya, including in the framework of the Quartet that also includes the African Union and European Union.
The source said that the UN envoy agreed to visit the Arab League headquarters soon for more coordination in stances and discussions on the Libyan crisis.
