Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayeb said harmony has to be reached between the branches of Islam to preserve the unity of the nation.
Azhar has always stood firmly against Shia preachers to disrupt the Arab nation by imposing certain doctrines, he said.
Al Azhar is constantly seeking the unity of Islamic ranks and overcoming differences and division but at the same time stands firmly against any attempt to mar this unity, Tayeb said during a meeting with Moroccan professor Mohammad bin Sharifah, Islamic studies professor at Mohammed V University in Rabat Esmat Dandesh and Algerian Ulema Amar Talebi on Wednesday.
