Chinese Ambassador to Syria Qi Qianjin stressed his country’s keenness on the active participation in the reconstruction process in Syria, reiterating his country’s support to the peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria and to the exerted efforts for combating terrorism.
In a speech during a reception ceremony marking the 69th anniversary of establishing the People’s Republic of China, Qianjin said that Syria is a natural partner in “The Belt and Road” Initiative in a way that creates more opportunities for cordial cooperation between the two countries.
He expressed China’s readiness to provide all possible humanitarian aid to the Syrian people.
He referred to the participation of several Chinese companies in the 60th edition of Damascus International Fair, indicating that several Syrian companies will participate in the 1st Chinese International Fair to be held in November.
The Chinese Ambassador noted that his country has organized many training courses and workshops on the reconstruction, in addition to providing scholarships for Syrian students.
He said that his country announced a special plan for enhancing the reconstruction backed by the industrial recovery through providing loans with a value of USD 20 billion to strengthen cooperation with Arab states including Syria.
In a statement to journalists, Presidential Political and Media Adviser Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban affirmed the deep-rootedness of the Syrian-Chinese historic relations.
Shaaban indicated that China has used the veto seven times to preserve the stability of Syria and its territorial integrity and the security of the Syrian people.
She expressed hope that the economic and cultural relations between the two countries will rapidly develop in the future, particularly due to the Chinese initiative “The Belt and Road” in a way that would serve the interests of the Syrian and Chinese peoples.
She underlined the necessity of benefiting from the Chinese experiences which could provide a lot in the domain of reconstruction in Syria.
For his part, Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Fayssal Mikdad said in a press statement that the Chinese support to Syria has been a principled support at the Security Council and has been reflected through China’s stances in the framework of the war against terrorism and through proving the humanitarian aid and keeping the Chinese Embassy open in Damascus and the Syrian Embassy in Beijing open.
