Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held a round of strategic talks with his Iraqi counterpart Ibrahim al Jaafari during his visit to the Arab country Wednesday.
Shoukry congratulated Jaafari on the liberation of Mosul from Daesh, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said.
He added that Shoukry voiced Egypt's full support for Iraq in the face of Daesh and its willingness to train the Iraqi armed forces and police in maintaining security and stability.
Egypt is also ready to contribute to efforts to reconstruct Iraqi cities and liberated areas, Abu Zeid quoted Shoukry as having said.
Jaafari greatly appreciated Egypt's support for his country, adding that he is pleased with the level of relations between Baghdad and Cairo, the spokesman further said.
He told Shoukry he is looking forward to boosting economic cooperation between the two countries, he added.
The meeting also took up challenges facing the Arab world, including foreign interference by some regional powers and the threat of terrorism, Abu Zeid said
Efforts to reform the Arab League also figured high in the meeting, the spokesman added.
The crisis with Qatar and the situation in Libya were also probed, Abu Zeid noted.
