A fire broke out at the rooftop of Yas Viceroy hotel at Yas Island on Monday afternoon.
Guests and employees were evacuated immediately as soon the fire alarm went off, hotel authorities confirmed
There are no casualties except some small material damage, according to Kasper Wigen, Director of Marketing at Yas Viceroy.
"The fire broke out at 12.30pm and the civil defence team stationed at Yas Island was here within five minutes. Our hotel response team evacuated the guests safely and everything was brought under control in less than ten minutes," said Wigen.
He said there were no guests at the rooftop on the 9th floor where there is a swimming pool and some restaurants.
"We don't know the cause of the fire. The Civil Defence is investigating into it. It is back to business at the hotel."
Civil Defence was not available for a comment.
A staff at the hotel said he saw plumes of smoke coming from the roof. "There was no panic as the guests were escorted out by our staff. The fire was put out in less than half hour."
