Cairo - Arab Today
The International Refugee Organization (IRO) and its partners, in cooperation with the Government of Canada, started operations to re-settle a number of Syrian refugees in Egypt in Canada.
A statement by the UN media center in Cairo said 39 Syrians, representing the first batch of out of 600 refugees, left Egypt early on Thursday for Canada.
Up to 47 per cent of them are children, according to the UN.
They are being helped by the IRO to start a new life in Canada during the month of February.
Those who will move to Canada will receive upon arrivals their permanent residence and social insurance documents.
