A shopkeeper was handed a three month prison sentence and an OMR2000 fine by Ibri Preliminary Court

A shopkeeper was handed a three month prison sentence and an OMR2000 fine by Ibri Preliminary Court for violating the consumer protection law.

Judicial officers at the Department of Consumer Protection in Al Dhahira Governorate conducted routine checks in commercial stores to ensure that the consumer protection law regulations were being followed. 

The officers noticed that one salesman was displaying and selling expired products, which is a violation of article 3, 39 and 14.

The accused was referred to the public prosecution for further investigations and then referred to court.

The judge sentence the salesman to three months in prison and an OMR2000 fine as well as ordering the products to be destroyed.
