Manpower Minister Mohamed Saffan will hold a meeting on Thursday with representatives of business owners’ associations and trade labor union to discuss rules regulating disbursing the annual pay rise for workers in the private sector.
The move comes after the parliament approved law no. 16 of 2017 to grant a 10 percent bonus to public servants, who are not listed in the Civil Service Law (CSL) no. 81 of 2016.
The bonus will be paid retroactively as of July 2016 and will be included in the basic salary.
The meeting will bring together representatives of the General Trade Union Federation (ETUF), the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI), the Egyptian Tourism Federation, the Egyptian Federation for Construction & Building Contractors, the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC), the Egyptian Union For Investors Associations and the Association of private school owners, as well as representatives of the ministries of youth, social solidarity and higher education and education, Saffan noted.
