OIC strongly slams targeting of Mecca

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned on Friday an attempt by Houthi militias to target Saudi Arabia's holy city of Mecca by launching a long-range ballistic missile.
In a statement, OIC secretary general Yousef bin Ahmad al Othaimeen said the assault comes as part of Iran's plots to spoil the Hajj season.
The attack proves that Houthi militants are not serious about ending the conflict in Yemen, he noted.
He stressed the organization's support for efforts exerted by the Yemeni government and the UN to maintain Yemen's security and stability.
On Thursday, Saudi air defense units stationed in the area of Taif, located not far from Mecca, intercepted a ballistic missile launched by Houthi forces from Yemen that was intended to hit the Muslim holy city of Mecca.
