Egypt’s Ambassador to the Vatican Hatem Seif el Nasr said preparations are underway for an extraordinary meeting to group Pope Francis of the Roman Catholic Church and Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayeb at the papal HQ in the Vatican.
Tayeb’s visit will be the first-ever by an Azhar grand imam to the Vatican, the Egyptian envoy said.
It comes at a special timing and carries a message on the importance of strengthening dialogue frameworks between religious leaders and expanding common understanding on common values, he said.
The meeting between the two religious figures will show a living example to the world on co-existence, peace, tolerance and coherence, he added.
