Saudi Arabia and Iraq signed on Monday a memorandum of understanding on air transport.
This came during a meeting between Saudi Minister of Transport and Chairman of the board of directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation Sulaiman bin Abdullah Al Hamdan, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation Abdul Hakim bin Mohammed Al Tamimi, and President of the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority Hussein Mohammad Kazem, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The two sides discussed the air transport services and mechanism of cooperation between the two countries.
The President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation said that the meeting discussed the mechanism of enhancing transport between the two countries, stressing that the General Authority of Civil Aviation in Saudi Arabia is always seeking to develop frameworks of cooperation in the field of air transport with other countries.
Kazem hailed the great development witnessed in relations between the two countries, stressing keenness of the governments to enhance opportunities to help further bolster the economic and trade relations between the two countries.
He also expressed the hope that this agreement would provide opportunities for air carriers to operate direct flights between the two countries.
