The Shura Council hailed Bahrain’s democratic strides under the reform project, which was launched by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.
It described Bahrain’s democracy as one of the most important models that allow people and competences to participate and enable all social segments to exercise their role in the decision-making process.
The Shura Council issued statement paying tribute to HM the King on the eve of the International Day of Democracy, which falls every year on the 15th of September.
The 2018 edition, to be celebrated tomorrow, Saturday, is being held this year under the theme “Democracy under Strain: Solutions for a Changing World”.
The statement stressed the preparations which are underway to hold the parliamentary elections for the fifth legislative term, hailed citizens and leading national figures who have already showed their desire to run in the forthcoming polls.
It stressed the importance of legislative elections which will further boslter the march of development and nation-building as stiplutated in the National Action Charter which was endorsed by a sweeping popular vote.
The Shura Council saluted the relations of cooperation and constant coordination between the legislative and executive branches of government, paying tribute to His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier for their support.
