Three people were killed in road accidents in Oman Saturday, according to a press release from the Royal Oman Police (ROP). A speeding driver in Ibri was killed when he lost control of his car while negotiating a sharp bend on the Rustaq-Ibri highway. With the weather being pleasant in Dhofar, more and more people are travelling by road to the south where the drive through the mountainous terrain could prove tricky. A driver went off road while driving to Mirbat town in the south and succumbed to serious injuries while his vehicle was badly damaged, according to ROP. A motorcyclist was the third person to get killed when he was knocked down from behind by a saloon car at an internal road in Sinaw town in Dhakhaliya region. \"The driver of the car lost control after a tyre burst at high speed,\" a spokesperson for ROP said. He urged drivers to maintain proper air pressure in tyres and maintain them well, especially during this time of summer when temperatures are very high. Meanwhile, ROP has reported that 13 people were killed and 102 injured in 107 accidents registered with the police during the last week. From gulfnews.
